Comprehensive Guide to the 2XKO Ranked Play System (Closed Beta)
Qualifying for Ranked Games
The 2XKO team aims to enable swift entry into competitive play. To participate in Ranked games in the Closed Beta, players must achieve Account Level 3. Furthermore, playing Ranked is a deliberate choice; players must consciously jump into the matchmaker to participate in Ranked Play. For more information about the Closed Beta, check out our Closed Beta Overview & FAQ.
Ranked Match Structure and Encounter Rules
Every competitive Ranked encounter includes at least one match.
Built-In Rematches for Ranked Series
The Ranked system features built-in rematches. Players can rematch up to twice more, creating a best-of-three series, provided both parties want to fight again. This allows players to counterpick champions and try new strategies between Ranked matches. For advanced gameplay strategies, see our How to Play Neutral in 2XKO guide.
Ranked Tiers and Hierarchy
Like many other Riot games, 2XKO features a hierarchy of Ranks for players to climb.
Ranked Tier Structure
Each standard Rank is divided into three different tiers.
| Ranked Tier | Division Structure |
|---|---|
| Iron Rank | Iron I, Iron II, Iron III |
| Bronze Rank | Bronze I, Bronze II, Bronze III |
| Etc. | All other standard Ranks follow this three-tier structure |
Top Ranked Exceptions
There are two exceptions at the peak of the Ranked ladder:
- Grandmaster: This Rank is the only exception that has no tiers.
- Challenger: The top 500 players in the Ranked system are promoted to the highest Rank, Challenger. Learn more about champion strategies in our Champions section.
RP (Ranked Points) Mechanism
RP, or Ranked Points, are the currency used for climbing the competitive Ranked ladder.
How RP Works
- Winning a Ranked match earns the player RP.
- Each tier within a Rank requires 100 RP for the player to climb to the next tier.
- If a player is in Tier III of their current Rank, reaching 100 RP will automatically promote them to Tier I of the next Rank.
RP Promotion Example
If a player is Gold III with 93 RP and gains 10 RP, they will immediately jump up to Platinum I, retaining 3 RP.
Ranked Placements
Before a player receives an official Rank, they must complete placement matches.
Placement Requirements
- Players must play through 5 placement matches before earning their initial Rank.
- Leaving a placement match will be considered a loss within the Ranked system.
- Although players can duo during placement matches with players who are already Ranked, the system warns that this may result in matching against slightly more skilled opponents.
Promotion and Demotion in Ranked Play
Promotion
Achieving enough RP for the next Rank or tier will immediately place the player in that higher tier, with any leftover RP carried over.
Demotion Protection
The Ranked system implements a demotion shield to protect players at 0 RP.
- If a player loses enough RP to drop below 0, they are initially dropped to 0 RP at their current Rank. This gives the player one last chance to step back up before an actual demotion occurs.
- Demotion Example: If a player is Silver I with 8 RP and loses 10 RP, they will remain at Silver I with 0 RP. However, if that player loses another match after being at 0 RP and loses 10 more RP, they will drop down to Bronze III with 90 RP.
Duo Ranked Strategy and Limitations
2XKO encourages teaming up, making Duo Ranked play highly flexible.
Duo Ranked Benefits
- Players can duo with friends of any rank all the way through the Grandmaster Rank.
- Duo Ranked matches will likely result in more challenging battles, requiring players to come prepared.
Anti-Boosting Measures
- To prevent "boosting," high-Ranked friends may receive less RP when playing Duo Ranked with lower-ranked teammates. Players are encouraged to earn their spot at the top of the Ranked ladder.
Ranked Seasons Update
Since the Closed Beta will only last for a short duration, players do not need to worry about the regular cycle of Ranked seasons.
Closed Beta Progress Reset
Players should be aware that Ranked progress will be reset once the Closed Beta ends. More updates on the full Ranked season system will be provided as the game approaches its full release. Stay updated with the latest 2XKO News and check our FAQ for more information.
